My name's Raul, and I'm super new to trading but have been programming for a few years. Done a bit of crypto trading too, and want to build some bots.. any good suggestions for starting materials?

I'm a Python developer who loves stats, data, and coding in general. I'm looking to meet some like minded people who are into algo trading. I'm a newbie in the space but I look forward to learning a ton.

Hey Guys, welcome!

@Raul48 No probs about lacking trading experience, I've spoken to quite a few guys who are also hoping to learn how to trade but have experience with coding. That's a good start!

@DWilson99 I'm interested in triangular arbitrage too, have you looked at market making before?

@MalwareMike awesome, have you done much with data science before like any kaggle comps? There's a decent amount of crossover between data science/AI and algo trading.

Hello,

I am a consultant for financial analysis at PWC (2yrs) and have spent about 1 year now doing large volume day trades and about 3 months researching Algo trades/learning python to build. Know virtually nothing about trading crypto specifically.

@Uwct Welcome to Stadivm - having financial experience and building out programming skills is easier than the other way around afaik, and it makes sense. There's a few guys I'm talking with who are learning Python right now too to be able to build bots. If you've got a student email address you can pick up Pycharm for free here: https://www.jetbrains.com/student/ and if you're looking for a good introductory Python course you can't beat: https://www.coursera.org/learn/python

I'm a software engineer, my favorite languages are Kotlin, Ruby, and Python. I've got experience trading on binance with python, but only with very simple strategies.

Anyone who's in the process of learning Python to begin building bots, I've set up another thread here: https://stadivm.com/threads/whos-learning-python.179/

Please read through that and start hitting it with questions about the best ways to learn Python fast (and well). There's going to be a good number of guys who can lend some advice, so use that thread to help reduce the learning curve.
